Boudoir Photoshoot Experience
I'm so excited that you’ll be at the studio for a glamour's, empowering photoshoot!
HOW CAN A BOUDOR PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION CHANGE YOUR LIFE?
When my clients come in, perhaps they may not quite know what to expect. And although each individual is unique and will view the experience differently, what many women have to say after their boudoir photo shoot is the same. Clients leave feeling fulfilled and thankful that they took that step and did their boudoir photography session! They get to embrace their female form; an imperfection such as a stretch mark or insecurities and "problem areas" seem to disappear behind the camera lens. The women I shoot are amazingly real and leave transformed. Often they feel a sense of empowerment and love for themselves and their bodies. Something that, maybe, they haven't felt in years.
I AM NOT A MODEL, AND HAVE NEVER DONE THIS. IS THAT A PROBLEM?
Over the years and many of sessions, I have shot women of all ages, shapes and sizes. No one comes in knowing how to pose, and everyone leaves with amazing pictures! You’ve hired me to make you look and feel the best you ever have, and I guarantee you'll leave with a new found confidence.
Your only job: is to have fun and relax. I only ask that place your confidence in me. With amazing posing, lighting and direction, you will love your portraits!!!
I am here to help you through the whole experience so you can get exactly what you want. It's great to get to know everyone before their shoot and it's a great way to calm some nerves before your session!
WILL MY PHOTOS BE ON THE INTERNET?
Not unless you say it’s okay! Every client I feature on my website(s) has given me permission to post her images. Privacy is very important to me. If you decide you don’t want them shared, that is completely fine. If you want to give permission, I’d LOVE to share them so other women can get an idea of what the experience looks and feels like.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND?
Please do! I highly encourage bringing a friend to your shoot and ask about our specials for booking with friends!
DO YOU OFFER HAIR/MAKEUP SERVICE?
Absolutely! Having your hair and makeup done is an integral part of your experience! Most of my Makeup artist have a location/studio of their own to also get ready at as well or they can come to you:)

BOUDOIR PREP GUIDE:
Waxing: If you are planning to wax for your session, please be sure to leave 3-5 days for you to heal before the session.
Shaving: Shaving can be done the night prior to the shoot, avoid shaving several days prior to the session to keep your skin smooth and not irritated. Consider products designed to help minimize razor burn if that is often an issue for you. Shaving the night before the shoot or the day of can help avoid this.
Tanning: Spray tanning should be avoided within a week of the session. If you want to have a faux glow, please have it done at least one week prior to the shoot at a professional salon and do so in the nude. You want to avoid creating tan lines that can show up when you’re not wearing a lot of clothing.
Sunburns: Stay out of the sun for the week prior to your shoot! Day to day exposure is fine, but avoid long hours in the sunlight to avoid sunburns. Photoshop can do amazing things, but sunburns will have a negative impact on your shooting experience, and will likely be present in your final images. It will be significantly more expensive to have to remove sunburns during retouching. Be sure to wear sunscreen when you know you're going to be in the sun!
Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water for the week prior to the shoot. This will keep you hydrated and help keep your skin glowing and smooth.
Skip the alcohol. Avoid partying or drinking the day before your shoot, as alcohol depletes the skin of vital nutrients and can have it looking dehydrated and dull, even in small doses. This goes hand in hand with the last bullet point on hydration.
Don’t get a new tattoo right before your session. If you want to have a new tattoo for your boudoir experience, be sure to get it done well in advance to allow healing time. You don’t want to be sticking to sheets or having any pain during your session. Having to constantly alter poses and outfits to account for this can result in less images from your session and an overall less enjoyable experience.
Use gentle cleansers.
Skip heavily scented, super scrubby or foaming cleansers that are full of harsh chemicals. Exfoliating scrubs a can scratch the skinʼs surface and exacerbate oiliness, and chemical foaming agents can strip the skin of essential natural moisture and create flakiness. The drier the skin’s surface, the more prone your skin will be to break out from dry skin getting trapped in your pores.
Gentle creamy cleansers melt away makeup, protecting the skins vital fatty lipid layer, and prevent the skin from being overstimulated to produce oil.
Skip getting a facial. As we've already discussed, harsh chemicals can dry out your skin. This week you want to treat your skin with kid gloves, and undergoing any chemical treatments or using too active of a skincare regimen may stimulate the skin to break out or even cause an allergic reaction.
Moisturize. Get in the habit of using moisturizers and eye creams leading up to your shoot to have your skin looking hydrated and healthy.
Use lip balm. Dry and cracked lips are not ideal for your boudoir session. Make sure to regularly use lip balm and avoid smoking the day before your shoot. A gentle lip scrub can help remedy already dry lips, but you want to avoid dryness if at all possible.
I recommend wearing fake eyelashes to boudoir sessions!
Clean up the eyebrows. If you want to have your eyebrows waxed or threaded, be sure to schedule the appointment for at least a few days before your boudoir session. Otherwise, an eyebrow trim/touch up at home could be done a day or two before the shoot. Don’t try anything new here, you don’t want a small mistake to be documented and be feeling self-conscious.
Factor in time. If you want to make a change to your hair (dying, cut, etc.), schedule it at least one week prior to your shoot. You want to avoid any risk of mistakes happening because you got your hair dyed the day before the shoot.
Manicure. You want your nails to look their best. A manicure can help achieve this, but is not required. You just want them to be trimmed and neat for your session. You can stick with neatly shaped, clear nails. Soft, neutral colors work well for fingertips. Toes can get away with any color. Think about the outfits you’re bringing and be sure to choose a color that will compliment your choices.
Clean your ring. If you're wearing a wedding ring, make sure it looks its best. You'll definitely want to be showing it off in your session.
Using a toothbrush and toothpaste is a great day-to-day way to clean your bling, but most professional jewelers have sonic cleaners that make it sparkle like the day it was born. Many will even clean your ring for free. Especially if you return to the jeweler from where you bought it.
If it’s been a long time since your last professional cleaning, take the ring in right away. If there are any loose stones in your setting, they may get shaken loose, so it’s a good idea to allow a few days in case the jeweler needs to re-set anything.
ONE WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR SESSION:
Drink plenty of water.
Avoid being in the sun for long periods of time.
Moisturize your skin and face. Use lip balm daily. Baby your skin all week!
Wash your face with gentle cleansers.
If you have tight hamstrings, stretch to loosen them up. Runners and those who spend a lot of time sitting often have tight hamstrings. Several poses may stretch them and keeping them loose can alleviate discomfort.
TRY ON YOUR OUTFITS AHEAD OF TIME PLEASE :)
Buy Outfits ASAP & TRY them on before photoshoot session! Feel confident and sexy in your outfits
Buy Fake Eyelashes ; ) (Highly recommend) and a bold lip are beautiful in boudoir shots!
Buy a simple set of heals or go all out and bring sexy boots! They always look good in some shots!
3-4 DAYS BEFORE YOUR SESSION
Clean up your eyebrows.
Do any hair changes.
Wax. You will be in your underwear or less for your boudoir shoot. Consider your bikini line if you don’t usually.
Clean your wedding ring if you’re wanting to wear it during your session. (Also clean body jewelry)
THE NIGHT BEFORE YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
Shave if you’re not waxing.
- Drink lots of water
Sleep! Get a full night of rest. You want to be hydrated and well-rested for your boudoir session.
PACK YOUR BAG WITH YOUR OUTFITS, HEALS, JEWELRY, HAIR CURLER, HAIR SPRAY, LIP STICK, AND ANYTHING YOU WANT TO BRING TO THE SHOOT (if this is a surprise for your man, I hope you can hide your to-go bag some where safe for the shoot so your ready to go :D
THE DAY OF YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION
(Especially if your getting professional makeup done)
Remove all traces of your makeup from the night before, and be sure to moisturize and use your eye cream and lip balm. This will help your stylist have a clean canvas to work with and have you looking your best!
Arrive with loose-fitting or no underwear/bra. You want to avoid tight bras and underwear to avoid having lines in your skin. These take a while to disappear and can draw attention away from you in your photos.
Eat a healthy and light lunch. You want to avoid being bloated or lethargic from eating a large, unhealthy lunch. Nobody feels their most confident with a food baby. You want to eat something filling to avoid becoming hungry during the shoot. Eat your veggies, they'll keep you full and lean.
Bring outfit on hangers to avoid wrinkles. or else please stem and garments if needing to
If you want to do your own hair and make up- please freshly apply makeup before your session or touch up makeup before your photoshoot session :)
Please do not wear any tanning lotion or else it will be all over white bedding <3

12 Things to Remember When Picking Boudoir Outfits So That You Look Amazing!
DON’T CHASE TRENDS IF YOU DON’T LIKE THEM.
Pressure to select pieces that feel trendy or don't match your personality can often lead to people picking pieces that don't fit them well in personality or body type. Your style is the most important thing in the shoot, don’t pick things you don’t really like to try to fit in with a stylistic fad. Be true to what you love and I will help you highlight that in your images.
2. GET VARIETY
Pick out several outfits to bring(1-2 at least maybe even 3!) and we can go over them on the day of the shoot where I can guide you towards the pieces that will fit the style that we are working with. We will use one outfit per 10-15 minutes of shooting time (nude counts as an outfit). That’s two outfits for the session.
3. CHECK FOR TAGS
Clothing tags may be easily missed on shoot day. I am usually very good about catching hanging tags during shooting but if it slips through, there are situations where it cannot be edited out (e.g. complicated back tattoo). Consider removing these from your outfits or securing them to the inside of the piece.
4. DON’T BE SCARED OF COLOR
It's very common for clients to feel that they have to bring all black lingerie to their shoots, which removes some of the character that colorful pieces can offer. Black outfits are completely acceptable, but don't shy away from color to add a pop of energy and personality into your outfit.
5. GRAB A PAIR OF HIGH HEELS
High heels force a posture that will shine in boudoir. These also bring interesting shots with focus on shoes (so make sure that you love them!) and dynamism and personality to the shoot. They aren’t required, but if you have a set of red bottoms that you want to show off, bring ‘em on!
6. NEW/BARELY USED IS BEST
That new feeling will help you enter an uncomfortable space feeling fresh. Also, you are preserving this look forever in a keepsake that you will look at in 30 years - you want to make sure this experience is tied to the outfit that isn't one that looks beat up. Let the outfit be new and part of the experience.
7. PUSH-UP BRAS ARE OK
If ever there was a time for more support it is during a boudoir session. Push-up bras add visual power to almost every pose and will have your chest looking its best. They are not a requirement, but worth your consideration.
8. USE HANGERS AND BAGS
We want the outfit to look as pristine as possible. Bring your clothing to the shoot on hangers and using bags over them to help them stay pristine and prevents any annoying detail from finding its way into the photos.
9. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE LINGERIE
Lingerie is a natural choice for boudoir. However, it isn't the only option for boudoir. Simple outfits such as a button down shirt and panties can be equally as powerful as lingerie. Find some piece with emotional value or that displays your personality. A tank top and a flowy skirt? Awesome! A crop top with thigh-high fishnets? Fantastic!
10. BRING A HANDFUL OF BRAS/PANTIES
Having simple and complex bras and panties will offer the most flexibility. These can be paired together or with any other outfit so that they can add some spice to outfits with a small change. Having a small grab bag of these will allow you to add some color or texture to outfits with little hassle.
11. TRY ON YOUR OUTFITS BEFORE PHOTOSHOOT
Loose lingerie or lingerie that is too tight does not lend to making your feel or looking as sexy as you can. The perfect-fitting outfit will highlight your curves and not add detriment to them by creating creases in skin or hanging off of you, especially once you get into some more involved poses. You don’t want to find out that your outfit doesn’t fit or has a loose section on the day of the shoot, so try it on!
12. TRUST YOUR GUT
Find items that naturally draw you to them. Sessions are about YOU. Be honest with what you want. You will feel twice as good on the shoot day when you honestly like your outfit. You want to let your personality shine here, so being honest with what you like is the best first step in that process.
